Beneficiaries turn Benefactors

Xu Ziheng, 2009 information engineering graduate, recipient of Lanson Foundation Scholarship, recently donated 10% of his income last year to the Lanson Foundation Scholarship Fund, from which he had benefited during his undergraduate studies. ‘It was an unforgettable experience to meet the donor six years ago. After meeting him, I understood that making a donation was a means to extend the spirit of sharing and selfless giving to others…’ said Ziheng.

Chan Kin-pong, majoring in psychology, recipient of the HSBC Overseas Scholarship 2009–10. He received full sponsorship to spend a year at Oxford to study philosophy. Kin-pong said, ‘It was a valuable experience of transformation. I do not come from a wealthy family, but my optimism and persistence had driven me to strive for this valuable opportunity and I was also inspired to do something meaningful.’ Together with some students at Oxford, he initiated the 'Little Dream-lighters' programme to underprivileged children …
