Organized by the Chinese Music Archive of Music Department and the Office of the Arts Administrator, the Guqin Week 2012 was held from 13 to 19 November to promote the art and appreciation of guqin to staff, students and member of the public. Activities included three talks entitled ‘Several Questions on the Guqin Piece “Guangling San”: From the Perspective of Guqin Study and Guqin Players’ by guqin expert Mr. Yao Gongbai; ‘Guqin as a World Intangible Cultural Heritage: Implications and Challenges’ by Mr. Tse Chun-yan, adjunct assistant professor, Music Department; and ‘Appreciation of Guqin as an Artefact’ by Mr. Shum Hing-shun, vice-chairman, Deyin Qin Society of Hong Kong. Two concerts and a music gathering were held featuring Mr. Yao and three CUHK alumni, namely, Ms. Lau Chor-wah, Mr. Sou Si-tai and Mr. Tse. The venues were packed with music lovers.
