Hong Kong Literature Collection 10-Year Exhibition

Jointly organised by the University Library System and the Hong Kong Literature Research Centre, the exhibition 'Flowers of the Garden: The First Decade of the Hong Kong Literature Collection at CUHK Library' held its opening ceremony on 11 October. Mr. Liu Yichang (3rd right), renowned Hong Kong writer; Prof. Joseph J.Y. Sung (2nd right), Vice-Chancellor; Prof. Lai Pan-chiu (2nd left), associate dean of the Faculty of Arts; Prof. Ho Che-wah (1st right), chairman of the Department of Chinese Language and Literature; and Ms. Louise Jones (1st left), University Librarian, officiated at the ceremony.

In 2002, Prof. Lo Wai-luen (alias Xiao Si) (3rd left) donated her collection of books, journals, materials on Hong Kong literature and authors which she had been collecting for years to set up the Hong Kong Literature Collection (HKLC). Thanks to donations from authors, scholars and the general public, the HKLC has more than 21,000 titles in 33,000 volumes. Exhibits include manuscripts, books and journals, in which CUHK hopes to arouse public interest in collecting, processing, preserving and donating materials and documents on Hong Kong literature. The exhibition is open to all until 17 November at the Exhibition Area of the University Library.
