‘Bring Your Own Bottle’ Sponsorship for O’Camps now available and Greenest O’Camp Award

30 May 2014

Since launching a 'Bring Your Own' Campaign in summer 2013 to promote a disposables-free culture on campus, the University has implemented a series of measures to promote the ‘BYO’ culture including production of a 'Bring Your Own' promotional video and a campus water dispenser location map (with the help of CUHK Green World) that can be accessed via ‘CUHK Mobile’ App, and provision of subsidies to the organizing committees (OCs) of departmental orientation campus for the production of reusable water bottles for new students. This year, the University is once again offering a subsidy to OCs to produce BPA-free water bottles printed with a 'Bring Your Own' message for distribution to new students.

To be eligible for  the sponsorship, O’Camp OC must follow bottle design guidelines and agree to fulfil at least seven actions of a list of green O’Camp actions (two of which are required) in a ‘Green O’Camp Action List’ in the guidelines. The List contains a number of simple green actions like no water flinging, showing freshmen how to do waste separation, and so on, to give new students a green start at CUHK.

Interested OCs can also participate in a ‘Greenest O’Camp Award’ competition which entails fulfilling as many green actions on the ‘Green O’Camp Action List’ as possible. An award of $3000 book coupons will be given to the OC demonstrating the successful implementation of the largest number of green actions during O’Camp this year.

Interested OCs should indicate interest to apply for sponsorship or participate in the ‘Greenest O’Camp Award’ competition to CPSO (cpso@cuhk.edu.hk) before 20 June 2014.  Details of the sponsorship and competition could be obtained from CPSO. We encourage all OCs and new students to read the guidelines too as it contains a number of resources useful for going green in CUHK.
