Fellowship and Assistantship from the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education and a summer travelling scholarship from the English Speaking Union to study the social and economic conditions of people in the Maritime Provinces, He served as an Administrative Assistant to the Director of the Research Department of the Toronto School Board in the summer of 1970 and Graduate Assistant at the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education from 1968 to 1971. Dr. Lam joined the School of Education in September 1971. Mrs. Florence Hua Choi Chiu-ping, Administrative Assistant, University Library Mrs. Florence Hua Choi Chiu-ping read History and Psychology at the University of Hong Kong after completing her secondary education at Diocesan Girls' School. Upon her graduation with a B.A. degree in 1968 , she taught English and History at Bishop Hall Jubilee School. Mrs. Hua joined the University in September 1971 as an Administrative Assistant in the University Library. (Pictures in Chinese section) COMINGS AND GOINGS • Mr. Luke S.K. Wong, Administrative Assistant at United College, was invited to attend two Conferences: (i) The Environment Forum and (ii) The Independent and Critical Conference on Problems of the Human Environment and the Third World which were held concurrently with the United Nations Conference on Human Environment held in Stockholm, Sweden, from 5th to 16th June. Mr. Wong gave a talk at the Forum on a case study of Hong Kong's Urban Housing and the Urban Environment; and was a speaker during a session on Urbanization and Rural Development. He also served as panelist in discussions and took part in workshops. • Prof. Tang Chun-i, Director of the New Asia Institute of Advanced Chinese Studies and Research, and Mr. Mou Tsung-san, Head of the Department of Philosophy at New Asia College, left for Honolulu on 10th June, to attend a conference on “Wang Yang Ming: A Comparative Study" held at the University of Hawaii from 12th to 16th June. • Dr. Ng Lee Ming, Lecturer in Philosophy, Chung Chi College, left for Switzerland on 15th June to attend a Conference sponsored by the Ecumenical Institute and the Human Studies of the World Council of Churches. • Dr. Kong Yun Cheung, Lecturer in Biology, Chung Chi College, attended the Fourth International Congress of Endocrinology, held in Washington D.C., from 18th to 24th June, at which Dr. Kong presented a paper. Dr. Kong returned to resume duty at the College on 11th July after one year of research work in Dr. C.H. Li's Hormone Research Laboratory, University of California, Berkeley, under the Staff Development Programme. Dr. Chiu Kam Wai, Lecturer in Biology of Chung Chi College, also attended the Congress and the Annual Meeting o f the American Society of Ichthyology and Herpetology in Boston. • Dr. Larson Yak-yeow Kueh, Lecturer in Economics at New Asia College, left for the United States on 24th June to collect material for the New Asia/Beaver Exchange Programme and to teach summer courses at Western Michigan University. He will return in mid- August. • Mr. M. Ted Gugelyk, Dean of Students of Maui Community College of Hawaii University, visited New Asia College on 27th June, and held discussions with the Dean of Students of the College and the Director of the Yale-in-China Chinese Language Centre. • President C.T. Yung of Chung Chi College attended the 4th meeting of the Commission for the Advancement of Christian Higher Education in Asia, held in Seoul, Korea from 5th to 9th July. •Mr.Chen Min, Lecturer in Journalism at New Asia College, left for Honolulu in early June to attend a seminar on “Mass Communications and Teachers in Journalism" held at the University of Hawaii from 12th June to 22nd July. • Dr. A.R.B.
