The annual risk management exercise provides a framework whereby, broader strategic aims can be implemented at operational levels with the reassurance that risks have been identified and mitigated. Our commitment to risk management has proved effective in the past year as reflected in our swift and resolute response to the unprecedented and unforeseeable circumstances and situations. Oversight and mitigation controls on critical issues under our risk management framework have worked well to help us move forward. In the risk assessment exercise of 2019–20, the University identifies in its institutional risk register the following risk areas with corresponding monitoring and improvement plans specified for the responsible risk owners. • Human resources • Information technology • Compliance • Health and safety • Student related issues • Facilities • Strategic issues • External environment • Campus safety • Student learning experience and graduate prospect • Financial sustainability The University’s risk management processes are designed to identify, evaluate, manage and monitor the risks it faces. Management and stakeholders, under the risk control procedures, enhance the effectiveness of the risk management mechanism in the University.
