40 香港中文大學年報 CUHK Annual Report 2020–2021 鼓勵創業 建設社會 Supporting Entrepreneurship to Benefit Society The University became one of the organisations to benefit from the Funding Scheme for Youth Entrepreneurship in the Guangdong–Hong Kong–Macao Greater Bay Area (GBA) to offer entrepreneurial support and incubation services to young people from Hong Kong to start their businesses. Teams of aspiring CUHK students would be sponsored to launch and expand their business in strategic industries and be provided with practical training, mentorship support and business opportunities to explore the GBA market. It is hoped that the Scheme would encourage more University members to work towards the ultimate mission of transferring knowledge and research findings into practical use and to contribute to the community. With the support of the CUHK Alumni Torch Fund, the 7th CUHK Entrepreneur Day was organised in September 2020. The event, held virtually, featured an exhibition showcasing around 70 CUHK startup projects, a series of talks and workshops by alumni, the CUHK Entrepreneurship Competition and ‘Meeting with Investors’ sessions and attracted over 1,500 guests online.
