We took pride in hosting the Times Higher Education (THE) Asia Universities Summit in June 2023 as a signature global engagement event during our diamond jubilee year. The largest gathering of higher education leaders in Hong Kong in five years drew over 500 delegates from more than 140 leading universities and organisations across Asia and beyond, demonstrating the unique convening power of universities to bring together people to discuss the pressing matters of our time. With the easing of the pandemic’s impact on global travel, we were pleased to celebrate significant growth in bilateral student mobility in 2022-23. We resumed face-to-face exchange programmes at scale. Capitalising on our expertise in education and research, as well as our engagement and leadership in international networks, such as the Association of Pacific Rim Universities and the International Universities Climate Alliance, we have successfully extended the impact on the world stage. The year also saw CUHK renew its resolution to harness the capability of Hong Kong’s higher education system to further support our city’s development and its integration into national development. The University made a formal submission as part of the public consultation process ahead of the Chief Executive of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Mr John Lee’s inaugural Policy Address, delivered in October 2022. With Hong Kong’s success hinging on a robust pipeline of talent, CUHK’s submission outlined a range of proposals for ways in which universities can boost research and innovation capacity for the knowledge economy, power skills for tomorrow’s prosperity and build our city’s global reputation 繫，深化合作。2023年6月，我們有幸與 泰晤士高等教育(THE)協辦「亞洲大學 高峰會」，作為鑽禧校慶的重點國際活 動。峰會成為香港過去五年來最大規 模的高等教育領袖聚會，吸引來自亞洲 及其他地區140多家頂尖大學和機構逾 500名代表參加，充分展示了大學能夠一 呼百應，動員各界力量，匯聚世界各地社 群共同就當前最迫切的議題商討要策。 2022-23年度大學大規模地恢復實體環 球交流計劃，學生的國際雙邊流動有顯 著增長。中大更在穩固的教研基礎上， 善用及積極領導多個重要國際網絡，包 括環太平洋大學協會和國際大學氣候聯 盟等，拓展中大的影響力，積極貢獻國 際高等教育的發展。 中大今年亦就香港特別行政區行政長官 於2022年10月發表的任內首份《施政報 告》公眾諮詢提交建議書，建議本港大 學如何加強力度，支持香港發展，助力 本港融入國家發展大局。確保人才供應 是香港未來成功關鍵，中大的建議書提 出了一系列方案，建議香港提升研究及 創新能力，發展知識型經濟，培養未來 技能及知識，迎接社經新趨勢，並拓展 國際教育，廣納優秀人才，建立全球聲
