校長前言 Foreword by the Vice-Chancellor and President 5 through international education, attracting the world’s best and brightest. CUHK is also dedicated to cultivating a sense of national identity across its student community, and to increasing their understanding of Hong Kong’s position in the national context. In 2022-23, the University introduced two compulsory courses on “Understanding China” and “Hong Kong in the Wider Constitutional Order”, supplemented by other initiatives of promoting national education. As a research-intensive university, CUHK advocates research and innovation that go beyond the discovery and creation of knowledge. This year marked the establishment of the CUHK Hong Kong-Shenzhen Innovation and Technology Research Institute (Futian), in response to the call of the Outline Development Plan for the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area (GBA) and the 14th Five-Year Plan. It is a critical step in CUHK’s policy of deepening its collaborations with Shenzhen and expanding its mainland foothold. Furthermore, in collaboration with the Hong Kong Science and Technology Parks Corporation, CUHK established the Advanced Therapy Products Good Manufacturing Practice Centre to accelerate the development of life- saving cancer therapies, regenerative medicine and related biomedical technologies. The Centre represents a significant development in the innovation and research agenda of Hong Kong, and also a realisation of the aspirations of our former Vice-Chancellor, the late Professor Sir Charles Kao, who had the foresight to envision biotechnology as critical to the city’s future prosperity. In 2022-23, CUHK once again performed impressively in the global academic arena. In the THE Asia University Rankings, CUHK was placed 6th, moving up one spot from the previous year, and attaining its highest position since the launch of 譽。此外，中大致力培養學生的國民身 分認同，讓學生深入了解國情和香港在 國家發展所處的地位。大學在2022-23 學年增設了兩門必修科目：「認識中國」 及「國家憲制秩序與香港」，與大學其 他各項國民教育活動相輔相成。 中大作為一所綜合研究型大學，致力革 新創優，推動新發現及新知識的轉化及 應用。今年，中大成立了香港中文大學 深港創新研究院（福田），深化深港合 作，拓展中大內地網絡，積極回應《粵 港澳大灣區發展規劃綱要》和國家「十 四五」規劃所訂立的發展目標，為實現 大學五年策略計劃所訂立的目標踏出重 要一步。此外，中大與香港科技園公司 共同成立了先進療法產品良好生產規範 中心，加速癌症療法、再生醫學及相關 生物醫學技術的發展，實現了前任中大 校長高錕教授的願景，貢獻本港及全球 人類的福祉。 本年度，中大在全球大學排名中再創佳 績。在「THE亞洲大學排名」中，中大位 列第六，較前年上升一位，為該排名自 2013年推出以來中大歷年最佳成績； 而在「THE世界大學排名」中，中大位 列第45位，成績連續三年穩步上揚。在 中大在 2022-23 學 年開學日舉行升旗 儀式。 A flag-raising ceremony was held to mark the beginning of the 2022-23 academic year.
