內地與全球聯繫 Mainland and Global Engagement 51 傳揚妙韻 Spreading the sound of music 釋放潛能 Unleashing kung fu potential Saxophonist Au-Yeung Lok Sam (BA in Music, Year 4) immersed himself in the musical culture of the United States during his exchange at The University of North Carolina at Greensboro. He performed regularly with the University’s Saxophone Quartet, Jazz Ensemble and Symphonic Band, and conducted his first ever solo recital. He made impressive progress in his musical journey by winning a Grand Slam – pocketing the championship titles at all of the international competitions he entered. 音樂系四年級本科生歐陽洛森非常享受在美 國北卡羅來納大學格林斯伯勒分校期間完全 沉醉在美國音樂文化中的經歷,他參與了該 校色士風四重奏樂隊、爵士樂團和管弦樂團 的演出,又舉行首場個人獨奏,更參加了多項 國際比賽,憑藉優秀的色士風項目在全數比 賽中獲勝,成就了音樂之旅上的「大滿貫」。 來自英國肯特大學的交換生Kiah Briana Jeneway熱愛中國 武術,她參加了中大學術交流處舉辦的功夫體驗班,儘管語 言不通,仍能通過肢體語言與共樣愛好功夫的導師和同學溝 通。Kiah更加入了新亞國術會,除了參與定期訓練,在農曆 新年期間更與同學在本港多區作醒獅表演。 Fascinated by Chinese martial arts, Kiah Briana Jeneway, an exchange student from the University of Kent, went to a taster kung fu session organised by CUHK’s Office of Academic Links. Despite the language barrier, she was able to communicate with her master and her classmates through actions and their mutual love for kung fu. She then joined the New Asia Kung Fu Society to get regular training and was invited to perform lion dances with other students at multiple locations across the city during Lunar New Year.
