大學校董會報告 Report of the Council 69 Blazing a new trail – University’s diamond jubilee The 2022-23 academic year saw the commencement of CUHK’s official 60 th anniversary celebrations. According to traditional Chinese culture, turning 60 represents the end of a cycle and heralds a new beginning. The University’s 60 th anniversary celebrations feature over 100 events spanning College life, international conferences, concerts, seminars, lectures, and exhibitions focused on CUHK’s rich history and its aspirations to build a brighter future for Hong Kong, the nation, and the world. The anniversary celebrations are set to continue throughout the 2023-24 academic year with this important programme setting the scene for the major themes which will anchor the University’s developments over the coming decade. The anniversary is an occasion to unite the CUHK community and renew the institution’s mission for the next chapter. Entering the post pandemic era The 2022-23 academic year marked the end of all pandemic restrictions, the reopening of international borders, and the full resumption of cross-border travel between Hong Kong and mainland China. The COVID-19 pandemic represented one of the most significant crises in human history, and the pandemic impacted almost every facet of life on campus for almost three years. Social distancing measures sparked unprecedented disruption to learning and teaching, ways of working, non-local exchanges, and the utilisation of the University’s physical estate. Looking to 2023-24, Hong Kong’s long-awaited reopening will inject a new impetus into the University’s efforts to develop new partnerships with the mainland and reengage with the international community. Demand from international and mainland students is set to quickly exceed pre-pandemic levels indicating strong global recognition of CUHK’s standing as a world-class centre of excellence for higher learning. 未來發展及展望 Future Development and Prospects 開創新格局——大學鑽禧紀念 2022-23學年標誌着香港中文大學正式 展開創校六十周年慶典。在傳統中華文 化中，六十歲代表一個循環的結束，亦象 徵全新開始。大學鑽禧校慶活動多達一 百多項，涵蓋書院生活、國際會議、音樂 會、研討會、講座和展覽，重點展示中大 悠久歷史，以及表達大學為香港、國家和 世界建設更美好未來的願景。 校慶紀念活動貫穿2023-24學年，並為 大學未來主要發展領域奠下基礎。鑽禧 校慶是凝聚中大社群同心為大學續寫新 篇、實踐使命的重要契機。 走出疫情陰霾 在2022-23學年，防疫措施全面解除， 國際邊境重新開放，內地與香港恢復通 關。新冠疫情爆發近三年，人類經歷史 上最嚴峻的危機之一，社交距離措施 對教學、工作、跨境交流、大學設施的應 用、以至校園生活的各個方面都構成前 所未有的影響。 經過漫長的期待，香港終於重新對外開 放，展望2023-24年，社會復常將為大學 於內地開展全新協作並與國際社會重 建聯繫注入新動力，預期國際和內地學 生的需求將很快超越疫前水平，足證中 大是世界頂尖的高等院校，卓越成就獲 國際認可。
