70 香港中文大學年報 CUHK Annual Report 2022–2023 Backed by the nation – with eyes on the world The full resumption of cross-border travel between Hong Kong and mainland China has heralded a new era for the University’s engagement across the nation, and this is set to intensify in the 2023-24 academic year. With mainland links being a key pillar of the CUHK 2021-2025 Strategic Plan, CUHK is committed to expanding its network of high-impact collaborations in research, education, and innovation to ensure that the University is at the forefront of major national strategies such as the development of the Guangdong–Hong Kong–Macao Greater Bay Area (GBA), and the implementation of the 14 th Five Year Plan. The 2023-24 academic year will see a range of exciting developments in the collaboration between CUHK and CUHK (Shenzhen). The Shenzhen campus will celebrate its 10 th anniversary, and construction of the CUHK (Shenzhen) Hospital will near completion which will see a 3,000-bed healthcare facility set to revolutionise cross-border collaboration in medical education and research. Additionally, the two campuses are set to welcome an inaugural cohort of close to 50 students undertaking the groundbreaking double major programme, which represents the first ‘2+2’ style collaboration enabling students to undertake one half of their studies in Hong Kong, and the other half in Guangdong. This unique programme represents a major milestone in advancing people-to- people ties and substantive educational collaboration in the GBA. The University is expecting outputs from its new mainland centres (Beijing, Shanghai and Futian) to ramp up. Now these facilities have opened and are expected to generate activity in a range of areas such as medical robotics, innovation and entrepreneurship, and executive training. Building on the success of CUHK’s five State Key Laboratories and research contributions such as the University’s recent participation in agricultural experiments on the nation’s space programme, the University is set to harness more of its scientific expertise to participate in more nation-building research schemes and advance the cause of Chinese-style modernisation and national rejuvenation. A sustainable campus to power the innovation agenda The 2023-24 academic year is set to be an exciting one for the development of the University’s campus. The Art Museum is expected to open the Lo Kwee Seong Pavilion, which will add a world-class wing to ensure that the University’s art and antiquities remain at the forefront of Hong Kong’s role as a major hub connecting China’s ancient culture to the world. Implementation of CUHK’s Carbon Neutral 2038 commitment gathers momentum, with the University set to commence work on ensuring that its legacy campus as well as new developments reflect 背靠祖國、面向世界 香港與內地全面恢復通關,象徵大學於 內地的發展步入新紀元,並將在2023- 24學年進一步加強。內地聯繫是《中大 策略計劃2021-2025》的重要支柱, 中大致力在研究、教育和創新方面擴大 高影響力合作網絡,以確保大學處於粵 港澳大灣區(大灣區)發展、國家「十四 五」規劃等重點國家戰略的前沿。 2023-24學年將見證中大與香港中文大 學(深圳)開展一系列高瞻遠矚的合作 計劃。深圳校區將慶祝創校十周年紀念, 而香港中文大學(深圳)醫院的建設也 將近完成,能提供3,000個床位,預計成 為進一步推動跨境醫學教育和研究協作 的重要醫療設施。此外,兩個校區將迎 來近50名學生,成為修讀全新深港合辦 雙主修課程之首屆學生,課程以「2+2」 形式協辦,使學生可以在香港完成一半 課業,另一半則在深圳完成。這個獨特且 富開創性的課程是推動大灣區人文交流 和實體教育協作的重要里程碑。 展望未來,大學於北京、上海和福田等地 設置的內地新基地將增加產出,這些設 施現已開放,專注發展醫療機械人、創新 創業和高管培訓等多個領域。 五所中大國家重點實驗室蓬勃發展,而 大學的農業實驗最近成功參與國家航天 計劃,再加上多項研究貢獻,為大學建立 穩固基礎,進一步利用科學專業知識, 參與更多有助國家建設的研究計劃,推 動中國式現代化和民族復興的事業。 支持校園可持續發展,推動創新議程 2023-24學年,大學校園的發展令人期 待。中大文物館羅桂祥閣即將落成開放, 世界級的新翼大樓將為確保大學繼續在 推動藝術和文物保存方面保持優勢,鞏 固香港作為把中國古代文化推廣至全世 界的重要樞紐。 中大正全力實踐對「碳中和2038」,致 力在保存校園傳統以及打造校園新貌之
