大學校董會報告 Report of the Council 71 Meanwhile, the construction of the Teaching-Research Complex in Area 39 and the Centralised General Research Laboratory Complex (Block 2) is on track to provide cutting-edge teaching facilities, research laboratories and other essential supporting amenities to enrich the education, research and innovation infrastructure at CUHK. Works at Chung Chi College, United College, Shaw College, Wu Yee Sun College and Area 39 are ongoing to offer extra student hostels and multifunctional activity space. Additionally, the detailed design of the new Engineering Building on the Central Campus has been completed and the application for construction funding is underway, underscoring CUHK’s commitment to constructing a sustainable campus to foster innovation and academic excellence. Consultants had been appointed to prepare the land grant and planning application of the Faculty of Medicine long-term expansion project “Proposed Multi-purpose Building at Public Transport Interchange adjacent to Prince of Wales Hospital”. Supporting Hong Kong’s development as an international hub The Northern Metropolis Action Agenda of the Hong Kong government spells out valuable opportunities for the higher education sector in the northern part of Hong Kong. Specifically, the Government has pledged to reserve more than 60 hectares of land for the development of the “Northern Metropolis University Town” and encouraged post-secondary institutions to develop campuses, enhance teaching and learning facilities and supporting provisions to promote the development of Hong Kong as an international post-secondary education hub, strengthen co-operation with mainland and overseas institutions, and achieve greater synergy through resources sharing and complementary industry development within the region. Following the submission of a proposal to the Education Bureau in August 2023 in support of Hong Kong’s ambition to become a global education centre, the University provided a supplementary proposal to consolidate a range of initiatives and concepts, including a Postgraduate Education Centre and a Talent Village, and presented the suggestion for an Accreditation and Education Centre for Agricultural and Food Products. The 2024 Policy Address delivered by the Chief Executive has outlined initiatives such as the “Hong Kong Future Talents Scholarship Scheme for Advanced Studies” and the establishment of the “Study in Hong Kong” brand to support institutions in nurturing local talent and attracting top students from around the world. These efforts will further enhance Hong Kong’s competitiveness and influence in the global higher education arena. In support of the government initiatives, CUHK is actively increasing its proportion of non-local students, fostering cross-cultural exchanges between students and enriching their multicultural experience while solidifying Hong Kong’s reputation as an ideal study destination. CUHK will continue to contribute its unique strengths to help Hong Kong become an international hub for post-secondary education. 閣將成為校園上全新地標,鞏固大學作 為讓中國藝術與文化與全球接軌的重要 聯繫人之地位。 與此同時, 39 區教學科研綜合大樓和綜 合科研實驗大樓(第 2 座)的工程進展順 利,將提供先進的教學設施、科研實驗室 以及其他重要支援設施,豐富大學教研創 新的基礎建設。此外,崇基學院、聯合書 院、逸夫書院、伍宜孫書院及 39 區正在施 工,興建額外的學生宿舍和多功能活動設 施。中央校園工程學大樓已完成詳細設 計,大學正為建造工程申請撥款。各項工 程體現中大對建設可持續校園、促進創新 及追求學術卓越的承諾。 大學亦已委任顧問機構,為將設於威爾斯 親王醫院附近的公共交通交匯處旁邊的 醫學院多用途大樓之撥地和規劃申請作 好準備。 支持香港發展成為國際樞紐 特區政府的《北部都會區行動綱領》為高 等教育界在香港北部提供了寶貴的發展 機遇。具體而言,政府承諾預留逾 60 公頃 土地用作發展「北都大學教育城」,鼓勵 高等院校擴充校園、提升教學設施及支 援配套,以促進香港作為國際高等樞紐 的發展,加強與內地及海外機構的合作, 在區內透過資源共享及產業互補發展產 生更大的協同效應。 中大在 2023 年 8 月向教育局提交建議書, 支持香港發展成為全球教育樞紐,其後 提交整合一系列倡議和構思的補充建議, 包括設立研究生教育中心及人才村,以及 建議成立農業及食品認證教育中心。 行政長官在 2024 年《施政報告》中提出 設立「香港未來人才深造獎學金計劃」及 全球推廣「留學香港」品牌等措施,有助 院校加強培育本地人才,吸引更多來自世 界各地的學生到港學習,進一步提升香港 在全球高等教育界的競爭力和影響力。中 大正積極配合政府政策,提高非本地收 生比例,促進海內外學生交流及多元文 化體驗,助力打造香港成為理想的留學城 市,充分發揮大學的獨有優勢,建設香港 成為國際專上教育樞紐。
