Th e Chines e Linguistic s Researc h Centr e (established in th e au t um n o f 1966 ) operate s w i t h i n th e Institute . A t th e beginnin g o f it s secon d decad e Th e Chines e Un i ve r s i t y has decide d tha t th e ma j o r thrus t i n th e humanitie s an d socia l sciences i n th e nex t te n year s w i l l b e Chines e studies . Becaus e o f it s heritage, it s settin g an d th e ava i l ab i l i t y o f qualifie d b i l i ngua l an d b i cu l t u r al academi c staff , th e na t u r a l specialt y t o b e develope d wh i ch wou l d giv e i n t e r na t i ona l distinctio n t o th e Un i ver s i t y i s Chinese studies .
