I t wou l d b e difficul t t o explai n why mone y shoul d hav e poure d i n an d continue s t o pou r i n w i t hout t ak i n g int o accoun t th e tremendou s impac t mad e b y Th e Chinese Un i ver s i t y upo n th e commun i t y o f Ho n g Kong . Indee d i t wou ld b e impossibl e t o explai n thi s phenomeno n w i t hou t acknowledging the fait h th e pub l i c ha s shown i n th e Un i ver s i t y b y investin g i n it , believin g i n th e impo r t an t rol e i t i s p l ay i n g an d w i l l continu e to pla y i n bu i l d i n g a better Ho n g Kong . The Centr e ha s also completed studie s on such subjects a s secondar y school teachers , highe r non-expatriat e civi l servant s an d information systems i n th e Socia l Welfar e Depa r tmen t , an d conducte d j o i n t studie s w i t h othe r institution s suc h a s th e Fami l y P l ann i n g Association. Wheneve r possible , th e Centr e provide s consultatio n to othe r intereste d organization s o n th e f o rmu l a t i o n o f researc h design, collectio n o f relevan t i n f o rma t i o n an d analysi s o f data . These effort s no t onl y contribut e t o th e developmen t o f socia l programmes i n th e loca l commun i t y bu t als o attrac t th e suppor t o f 5 2
