Sinc e 197 1 th e newl y forme d Commi t t e e o n Tr ans l a t i on ha s offere d a n i n t r oduc t o r y course , “Pr i nc i p l e s o f T r ans l a t i on " , wh i c h prepare s intereste d student s o f othe r departments to mi no r i n translatio n i n thei r t h i r d an d f ou r t h years . I n 1972, 1 6 student s wer e admi t t e d ou t o f 9 7 applicants . I n orde r t o f u l f il th e requ i remen t fo r th e degre e th e student s translat e book s under th e supervisio n o f th e teacher s o f th e Tr ans l a t i o n Department. T wo ne w teacher s wer e adde d t o th e origina l thre e i n 197 3 and anothe r w i l l b e adde d i n 197 4 i n orde r t o cop e w i t h th e increasing number o f student s attendin g th e i n t r oduc t o r y cours e an d i n an t i c i pa t i on o f offering ne w courses . The Depa r tmen t o f Ex t r amu r a l Studie s ( EMSD ) conduct s courses i n translatio n and , i n addition , a n advance d translatio n certificate cours e wh i c h w i l l soo n b e offere d fo r th e t h i r d time .
