Vice-Chancellor's Report 1978-82

University's Three-year MBA Programme was launched in 1977 with generous donations and support from Mr. Fung King-hey and Mr. Cheng Yu-tung, among other prominent businessmen in Hong Kong. The need for a permanent premise in town for this Programme soon became apparent as rented premises were not purpose-built for many of the required facilities and their continued availability cannot be ensured. Through the kind efforts of Messrs. Fung and Cheng, Co-Chairmen of the Advisory Board of the Programme, as well as other Board members, generous support was received from the business community for the establishment of the Three-year MBA Programme Town Centre which became operational in the latter half of 1982. The Town Centre occupies a floor area of 360 square metres on the third floor of East Ocean Centre, a new office building in Tsim Sha Tsui East, and contains three large classrooms and several offices. The Centre also houses a number of computer terminals which are connected to the computer system in the University for use by students and teachers during class sessions. 43
