學術研究是大學的一項重要職責，而研究成果是大學 賴以茁壯成長的養份。香港中文大學一貫鼓勵及支持教學人員 按其興趣，主動開展學術研究，以創造新知，改良教學，啟發學生。 Research is one of the prime functions of the University, and vital for its health. All academic staff are expected to be engaged in research, out of their own interests, for the creation of knowledge, and not least through these scholarly pursuits to improve teaching and inspire students. The policy of the University is to let academic staff take the initiative, to support and encourage, and through incentives to develop strategic directions of research.
