翻新及改善工程 Up g r a d i n g of Facilities 大學圖書館流通處已遷往正門左方，騰出空間改建為兩間有最新科技設備的圖書館研討 室。館內各層都釘上全新指示牌，鋪上地毯，提供較佳的研習環境；館方又撥出更多閲讀和 使用電子資料空間，並為殘障讀者加建通道和添置設施。 I n the main library, the circulatio n counter was moved to the front of the building, vacating space for the construction of t w o user education rooms fully equipped w i t h the latest technology. Better signs were installed, and all floors of the library wer e carpeted during the year to reduce noise and provide a bette r environment for study. More public space was provided for reader s and users of computers and other machines. Facilities for handicapped users were installed. 改善採購及編目服務 Technical Processing Imp r ovemen ts 校方將繼續改進採購和編目的速度及效率，減少積壓書籍，並將舊資料和書目資料庫轉 換為國際標準格式。中大又參與大學教育資助委員會屬下院校之「中、日、韓合作編目計 劃」。該計劃於一九九七年開始運作，將可加快中文、日文和韓文書籍之編目，並有利於與 其他院校共享圖書資源。 To achieve the target of building a state-of-the-art library system, the University w i l l continue t o improve speed an d efficiency i n the acquisition an d cataloguing of library materials, to clear backlogs and convert o ld records an d bibliographic databases t o standardized international formats . It has participated i n a Chinese, Japanese, Korea n (CJK) Cooperative Cataloguing Project whic h involves all UGC-funded institutions. When implemented i n 1997, the project is expected to expedite the cataloguing of CJK books and facilitate resource-sharing w i t h other institutions. 電算機及資訊科技服務 Computer andI n f o r m a t i o nTechnolog y Services 電算機服務中心及資訊科技服務處年內持續應用戶的需求，朝網絡基建、電腦設施、資 訊服務、行政系統和用戶支援五個重點發展。 The Computer Services Centre (CSC) and the Information Technology Service Unit (ITSU) received strong support f r om the University in 1995-96 to tackle the ever-growing demand on campu s for services in five major areas: network infrastructure, computing facilities, information services, administrative applications, and user support . 教學輔助設施 Academic Support Facilities 60
