改善及更換設備 I mp r o v eme nt and Replacement 實驗室內老化的通風系統於是年漸次更換，校方並尋覓更多地方儲存危險品，又加強樓 宇的消防及警報系統，更換舊式的配電盤；大型冷凍主機和自動滅火器材俱改用環保化學 劑。 Decrepit fume cupboards and exhaust systems in th e laboratories were gradually replaced, and more storage was sought for dangerous goods. I n major buildings fire detection and alarm systems were reinforced. Other major replacements du r i ng the year included new switchboards at electricity distribution stations an d new automatic fire- extinguishers and refrigeration machines using environmentally-friendly agents. 環境保護 Campus Preservation 年內校方加強勘察校內斜坡，加緊維修、清理和除草等工作，以策安全。又深入測量有 潛在危險的斜坡的土質，聽取土力工程師及政府有 關部門就維修及鞏固斜坡的意見，並致力改善排污 系統。 九廣鐡路白石角段路軌遷移工程經已完成，並 未對大學環境構成損害。另一方面，本校雖説服政 府放棄徵用校園部分道路通往白石角卸泥填海區， 惟將繼續監察該工程對校園環境的影響，亦會關注 政府在吐露港公路擴闊路面和在火車站附近設置停 泊及轉乘停車處的建議。 Wo rk on slope safety was stepped up w i t h more frequent and extensive inspections, repairs, w e e d i n g / a n d c l e a r a n c e. I n - d e p t h s i te investigation and geotechnical assessment were c o n d u c t e d on s l opes t h at are p o t e n t i a l ly dangerous. Remed i al measures and stability reinforcement are being designe d in consultation w i t h geo t echn i cal eng i nee rs a nd r e l e v a nt government departments.
