University members continued t o be active in community service. Among th e numerous public bodies served were th e University Grants Committee, th e Hong Kong Committee fo r Pacific Economic Cooperation, th e Land an d Building Advisory Committee, th e Urban Council, th e Hospital Authority, th e Occupational Safety an d Health Council, th e Housing Authority, th e Town Planning Board, th e Commission on Youth, th e Sports Development Board, an d th e Arts Development Council. 推動文化藝術 Promotion o f Art and Culture 中大及其成員書院不時主辦傑出敎授或傑出學人訪問計劃，邀請世界知名學者訪校，主持公開講 座及研討會，促進學術交流。過去一年應邀來訪的著名學者包括享譽國際的社會政策學者 A l an C . Walker、 諾貝爾生理/醫學獎得獎人 Richard J. Roberts、 核物理學家王淦昌敎授、東政敎巴多羅 買大公敎會主敎長、英美文學理論家 J. Hillis Millers、 英國皇家學會主席 Aaron K l ug， 以及翻 譯 學理論家 Peter Newmark、Eugene A , Nida 及 Wolfram Wilss。 本校文物館則經常舉辦展覽和硏討會，並出版刊物，以增進社會人士對藝術的認識。是年適逢文 物館建館二十五周年，該館精選館藏中國文物，舉辦「學宛匯萃——香港中文大學文物館銀禧紀 念展覽」，並與文物館館友會合辦「中國藝術文物研究新探國際研討會」，廣邀海內外學者參與研 左圖： Dr. Richard J.
