The conditions of probationary employment of non-teaching staff on Terms of Service (A) and equivalent terms wer e reviewed to make them more congruous with their job requirements. The required probationary period was revised from five to thre e years, and a new leave scheme was introduced to encourage them to plan their leave in accordance with the year-round work schedule. Du r i ng the year ma ny o t h er p e r s o n n el p o l i c i es a nd r e l a t ed p r o c e d u r es we re reviewed to ensure they were in consonance with changing circumstances; operations for the recruitment of various types of staff were also streamlined to achiev e greater efficiency and cost-effectiveness. As a responsible employer, the University diligently keeps abreast of new legislations which bear o n personnel matters. Following the recent enactment of the Personal Data (Privacy) Ordinance, the Sex Discrimination Ordinance, the Disability Discrimination Ordinance, a s well as revisions to the Employment Ordinance, guidelines were drawn up and disseminated with relevant information to the departments/units so that all would take heed to act in compliance with statutory requirements. 56 敎職員
