課外活動 Extracurricula Activities 是年由大學學生會、各成員書院學生會和超過一百九十個學院院會、學系系會和興趣小組舉辦之 課外活動，內容多樣化，包括文娛、康樂、體育活動、調查硏究、大型展覽、社會服務等。學生 從中學習組織和領導能力，增進學養，肯定個人價值，令校園生活更為充實。 年內由學生籌劃的最大型活動是三年一度的開放日。開放日為期兩天，於一九九六年十一月舉 行，吸引逾六萬名市民參觀。活動包括論壇、展覽、辯論、攤位遊戲及多項文娛表演，讓市民對 本校的發展有更進一步的認識。 學生獲校方資助，外出參加九六深穗港澳大學生電視辯論賽（中國深圳）、第四屆亞洲英語辯論賽 (新加坡），和九七實驗生物學國際會議（美國新奥爾良），以擴闊視野和胸襟，增進對國際事務 和異地年青人的了解。 Diverse extracurricular activities were organized through the University Student Union, the four college student unions, and over 190 faculty and departmental societies during 1996-97 , Numerous other academi c associations and interest groups on campus also organized a wide range of cultural, social and recreational activities to enhance students' intellectual growth, strengthen their self-esteem, and enrich campus life.
