電算服務 學習、敎學與行政 校方於一九九九年一月開始推行全盤的資訊科技策略後,電算 機服務處/資訊科技服務處(電腦中心)隨即籌劃設立資訊科技 學習中心,供學生學習資訊科技和評估他們的資訊科技能力。 電腦中心又於年中舉辦了多個硏討會和進修班,讓敎師學習最 新的資訊敎學科技。而為了改進行政效率和提高服務素質, 電腦中心更推出多個資訊系統並不斷改良舊有系統,受惠的計 劃包括網上申請入讀硏究院課程、新的硏究生助學金計劃、敎職 員居所資助計劃 、SAP 財務系統、開支申請過程下放系統等。 c o m p u t e r s e r v i c e s Learning, Teaching, and Administration Consequent upon the adoption of an IT Strategy by the University in January 1999, a new IT Learning Centre was planned by the Computer Services Centre/Information Technology Service Unit (CSC/ITSU) to provide a venue for students to receive training in an d assessment on IT proficiency. Seminars and training sessions on the latest teaching and learning technologies were conducted for teachers. A number of information systems were also implemented or revamped to increase administrative efficienc y and improve service quality. Projects which have benefited includ e online application for postgraduate programmes, the new postgraduate studentship scheme, the staff home financing scheme, the SAP financial system, and the decentralization of the expenditure application process. Network Access The CSC/ITSU also strengthened access to the Campus Backbone Network by implementing ClassNet, a sub-network which facilitates teachers and students to do presentations with portable computers. Computer network connections were also provided for individual hostel rooms through the ResNet. More than 1,800 hostel residents have registered to gain access to the campus and global networks. In many student hostels, network access was supplemented by the installation of computers in study rooms. 敎學輔助設施 Academic Support Facilities 7 0
