傑•出•研•究•計•劃 Outstanding Research Project 理學院 Faculty of Science 植物與真菌生物科技 Plant a n d Fu n g al Biotechnology 研究人員應用先進生物科技，包括脱氧 核糖核酸微排列系統來改良米和大豆等 主要食糧的產量和品質，又利用植物反 應器（化學工廠）來生產高價值的保 健、農業和工業產品。這項研究將有助 香港高科技工業的發展，以及解決全球 在新世紀的糧食和醫療問題。 Researchers in this project apply state-of-the- art biotechnology including the DNA micro- array system to facilitate crop growth, improve the yields and quality of major crops such as rice and soybean, and use plants and fungi as bioreactors (chemical factories) to produce high-value pharmaceutical, agricultural, and industrial products. The research will contribute to the development of high technology and the growth of new industries in HongKong,and help solve the world's food and health care problems in the 21st century.
