校長報告 5 VICE-CHANCELLOR' S REVIE W 機構的大力資助。我們對各界的支持和信任深感欣慰，定 當盡力使資源獲得最適當的運用。 科技轉移 一九九九至二零零零年度也是科技轉移的豐收年。多種與生 物科技、藥物學、中醫學，和資訊科技有關的發明都成功轉 移到海內外的工商機構，作進一步的發展和應用。我們 深信唯有不斷把大學人員的新構思、新發明、新科技轉化成 為日用商品，它們的好處才會廣為人知，廣為人用；而大學 透過這些科技轉移，也可以更好地回饋社會，服務人群。我 們今後將會朝這個方向加倍努力。 校園環境審核 今年本校另一項重要的成就，是完成了校園環境的全面審 核。這是全港首個校園環境審核，審核報告證實了中大校園 的空氣清新，水質良好，環境清幽，更發現校務的規劃 和運作周詳而縝密，務求把不利於生態環境的因素減至最 少。為了保護綠色的校園，提高員生的環境意識，校方更於 二零零零年五月議決通過全港第一份校園環保方案，將分階 and we ll managed s o that ecologically unsound elements were kept t o a m i n i m u m. T o continue keeping th e campus green an d t o heighten environmental consciousness among th e campus c ommu n i t y, a university-wide action plan wa s also adopted i n M a y 2000, an d ha s been p u t i n to i mp l eme n t a t i on i n phases. Together, these initiatives se t the tone f o r continuous self-improvement b y th e Un i v e r s i ty as a n environmentally- responsible organization; w e trust that they w o u l d also play a n exemplary role i n p r o m p t i ng o u r fellow institutions t o undertake environmental protection initiatives. Outstanding Accomplishments I n scholastic pursuits, research endeavours, service t o th e c ommu n i t y, an d extracurricular activities, o u r staff an d students continued t o excel, w i n n i ng f o r th e Un i v e r s i ty an d f o r themselves m a n y n e w accolades. Outstanding examples include Miss Jade Lai , w h o w i l l b e going t o O x f o r d as a Rhodes Scholar this year. Miss L a i is our t h i rd Rhodes Scholar since 1998.
