C Li, and Prof. Dennis Lo of the Department of Chemical Pathology 獎學金及經濟援助 今年發給學生的獎學金及經濟援助金額續有增 長,總額達三千八百五十一萬港元,其中二千五 百七十九萬港元由學生事務處分發,其餘的則由 四所成員書院分發。 大學及書院為獎勵成績優異的學生,共頒發獎學 金及學業優異獎一千五百三十一項,金額達一千 七百九十四萬港元。由學生事務處管理的獎學 金及優異獎共六百九十一項,其中百分之六的金 額超過四萬二千一百港元,足以支付得獎者的全 年學費。 另有五十六名學生獲頒獎學金,到海外參加交換 計劃、會議、交流團,以及修讀研究院課程, 金額約共三百七十九萬港元。九十九名內地生獲 頒獎學金來校攻讀,金額共九百五十一萬港元。 校方為答謝所有捐贈海外獎學金的人士,於二零 零一年五月卅一日假香港會議展覽中心舉辦「龍 騰萬里」嘉獎禮,由大學敎育資助委員會主席 林李翹如博士主持開展儀式,林博士並聯同李國 章校長向獎學金捐贈者致送紀念品。 雖然大部分需要經濟援助的學生都可獲政府的本 地專上學生資助計劃資助,但仍有小部分由於 種種原因須向大學求助。本年度校方為學生提供 貸款共三百七十八萬港元,另助學金一百一十六 萬港元。 此外,一千三百九十一名學生曾分別參與大學及 書院的外展訓練課程和學生工讀計劃,共領取津 貼二百三十三萬港元。 學生輔導及發展服務 今年學生輔導及發展組致力推廣心理健康意識, 促進學生的全面發展。為二零零零年入學新生所 舉辦的身心健康關注行動,以「理想 U-Life 由此 起」為主題,鼓勵新生主動定下理想生活的方向 及目標,繼而嘗試從校園生活中取得成功感和滿 two gold medals and five bronze medals. The University's basketball team was invited to participate in a basketball game in Fujian that involved six universities, including the top two post-secondary basketball teams on the mainland. The University's soccer team and basketball team also won in friendly matches against Macau University. The newly established Li Wai Chun Building on Chung Chi campus and the Cultural Square outside Benjamin Franklin Centre were open for use in 2000-1, providing better facilities for various student activities. Scholarships and Financial Assistance During the period under review, the total amount given out in the form of scholarships and financial assistance for students was HK$38.51 million, of which HK$25.79 million was administered by the Office of Student Affairs and the rest by the four colleges . A total of 1,531 University- and college-administered scholarships and prizes with an aggregate value of HK$17.94 millio n were awarded to students with outstanding academic achievements as an incentive for them to continue to excel in their studies. Of the 691 University awards, about six per cent carried a value sufficient to cover the annual tuition fee o f HK$42,100 or more. About HK$3.79 million was granted t o 56 students for participating in University-arranged exchange programmes, postgraduate studies, conferences, and study tours abroad. In the meantime, 99 students from the mainland were awarded scholarships to the tune of HK$9.5 1 million to study in Hong Kong. To express th e University's immense gratitude to the donors who made possible these learning opportunities to the students, a Soaring Dragons presentation ceremony was held on 31st May 2001 at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre with Dr. Alice Lam, chair of the University Grants Committee, officiating at the ceremony.
