Simmons (left 2) of Brown University 一九九八至二零零三年來校及外出交換生人數 Number of Incoming and Outgoing Exchange Students, 1998-2003 發，也嚴重影響了大學的交換生計劃。部分留學 生按照其所屬大學的指示提前回國，部分則按照 個人意願離港。唯是中大與夥伴大學的聯繫素來 緊密，加上世界衛生組織已於七月前將香港從非 典型肺炎疫區中除名，預料下學年來中大就讀的 海外學生人數勢將回升。 學術交流處於二零零二年十月四日在文化廣場舉 行首屆「國際日」，約有五千名中大生參與。當日 的節目包括表演、書展、食物及文化推廣攤位， international student mobility. The outbreak of SARS also affected student exchange programmes seriously. Some students returned home early at the instructions of their home universities while others left of their own accord. But with effective partnership management and the removal of Hong Kong from the World Health Organization's list of SARS affected regions, the number of international students is expected to rebound in the year to follow. On CUHK campus, some 5,000 students attended the first ever International Day held on 4th October 2002 in the Cultural Square.
