一九九九至二零零五年度來校與外出交換生人數 Number of Incoming and Outgoing Exchange Students, 1999-2005 Academic Exchange A total of 393 C U H K students participated i n regular t e r m - t i me student exchange p r o g r ammes i n the year u n d e r r e v i ew, r e p r e s e n t i ng a 25 per cent increase o v er the p r e v i o us year. The Un i v e r s i ty sent its first cohort of exchange students to universities i n Finland, Ireland, Italy a nd Mexico d u r i ng the year, w i d e n i ng the coverage of exchange destinations to 22 different countries. The U n i v e r s i ty also w e l c o m ed 476 exchange s t u d e n ts f r o m other parts of the w o r l d d u r i n g 2004-05. As p a rt of the Un i v e r s i t y 's i n t e r n a t i o n a l i z a t i on efforts, a Task Force o n Student Exchange was established to advise o n strategies that w o u l d enable the Un i v e r s i ty to f u r t h er e x p a nd student exchange. The I ASP s ummer session was offered again w i t h the p r o g r amme coverage extended to the I n t e r n a t i o n al Summer P r o g r amme of the Business A dm i n i s t r a t i on Faculty. There were a total of 53 international s ummer students, 35 more t h an the p r e v i o us year. The students shared business classes w i t h local s t u d e n ts a nd t o ok courses i n Chinese l a n g u a ge a nd culture. The Faculty of En g i n e e r i ng l a u n c h ed its En g i n e e r i ng Un i v e r s i ty Student Exchange P r o g r amme to p r omo te student exchange for engineering students. A n on-line a p p l i c a t i on system for student exchange p r o g r a mm es w a s i n t r o d u c e d. The s y s t em p r o v i d es a u s e r - f r i e n d ly interface f or international a nd local students to a p p ly for exchange a nd to mo n i t or the progress of their o w n applications. The Un i v e r s i ty became a memb er of the Austrian-based Eurasia-Pacific U N I N E T a n d a f o u n d i ng memb er of the A s i a n Pacific A s s o c i a t i on of I n t e r n a t i o n al Ed u c a t i o n. These p r o v i d e p l a t f o r ms f or the U n i v e r s i ty to e x p l o re a n d engage i n j o i nt s c h o l a r ly a n d s t u d e nt initiatives w i t h institutions i n Au s t r ia a nd Asia. D u r i n g the year over 120 international delegations were received at C U H K t h r o u gh the Office of Academic Links. The Un i v e r s i ty is increasingly being recognized for its excellence a nd a n umb er of Southeast A s i an universities a nd higher education organizations p a id visits to the Un i v e r s i ty d u r i n g the year to observe o ur practices. The delegations i n c l u d ed the T h ai C omm i s s i on o n H i g h er Education, Un i v e r s i ty Technology M a r a i n Ma l a y s ia a nd Seoul N a t i o n al Un i v e r s i ty i n Korea. Other p r om i n e nt delegations i n c l u d ed Prof. D u n c an Rice, p r i n c i p al a nd vice-chancellor of the U n i v e r s i ty of A b e r d e e n; P r o f.
