The theme of the conference is 'Sustainabl e Developmen t for China Urban Housing' . • T he School of Journalism and Communication established the Centre for C o mm u n i c a t i on Research to conductinterdisciplinary, systematic and innovative resea society. The centre serves as a forum for ideas and important resource for policymakers , journalists , cholars, media industries, and public interest organizations on the media through public opinion research. It is equipped with up-to-date Computer-Assiste d T lephone Interview (CATI) facilities enabling faculty members, research postgraduat e students and its clients to undertake high-impact , utting-edg research projects. • T he Departmen t of Psychology co-organized the 2005 Student Visitors Exchange Programme with Peking University and National Taiwan University from 19th to 24th May 2005 in Beijing. The programme aimed at providing psychology students from the thre institutions with an informal educationa l opportunity o advance their academic knowledge and to enhance communication among the thre departments . • T he Hong Kong Jockey Club Charities Trust has earmarked HK$0.4 billion for the P.A.T.H.S. to Adulthood: A Jockey Club Youth Enhancemen t Scheme. A research team led by the Department of Social Work received HK$29.65 million from the trust to develop and evaluate an evidence-based , multi- year, holistic positive youth developmen t programme and provide training to the workers. • The Department of Sociology organized a series of seminars and lectures for secondary school teachers and students o enhance their knowledge in liberal studies. Five Liberal Studies Teachers Seminars and thre Social Research Lectures for students were organized, with an attendance of around 460 teachers and 2,150 students. Also, with funding support from the Hong Kong Education City Ltd., the department worked on developing learning and teaching resources for Human Relationships , one of the modules of Liberal Studies.
