' N o b le Riders f r om Pines a nd Deserts: The A r t i s t ic Legacy of the Q i d a n' featured mo s t ly the research o u t p ut of postgraduates of the De p a r t me nt of Fine Arts. The ' G r a d u a t i on E x h i b i t i on of the De p a r t me nt of Fine A r t s' was an annual joint presentation w i t h the department. The 'Chinese Cu l t u r al Heritage i n A r t ' was a course r u n i n recent years for the General Ed u c a t i on Office w i t h the A r t M u s e um c u r a t o r i al staff as lecturers. F u r t h e r mo r e, to foster p u b l ic u n d e r s t a n d i ng of Chinese art, the A r t M u s e um participated i n 'International M u s e um D a y 2005', organized b y the Leisure a nd Cu l t u r al Services De p a r t me n t. I n a d d i t i on to p u b l i s h i ng e x h i b i t i on catalogues a nd m u s e um monographs, the m u s e um p r o v i d ed free authentication services to university staff a nd members of the public. O n a different front, The Chinese U n i v e r s i ty Press p u b l i s h ed 78 p u b l i c a t i o ns d u r i n g 2004-05. These i n c l u d ed 23 academic titles, 27 general titles, 10 issues of scholarly journals, and 18 revised/ reprint titles. Provision of Continuing Education The School of C o n t i n u i ng Studies (SCS) celebrated its 40th anniversary i n 2005 w i t h a host of events a i med at d r a w i ng the w i d er c o mm u n i ty i n to the s p i r it of ' L i f e - l o ng L e a r n i ng for Lifelong SCS continues to f l o u r i sh as its student base encompasses mo re f u l l - t i me sub-degree students. The learning centres i n Tsim Sha Tsui and Central n o w accommodate over 1,200 full-time students e n r o l l ed i n associate degree a nd h i g h er d i p l o ma p r o g r amme s. These offer secondary school leavers an alternative p a th to pursue a bachelor degree i n u n i v e r s i ty or to acquire the necessary s k i l ls a n d k n o w l e d ge f or e n t e r i ng the j ob m a r k e t. T h e re are also o v er 30 i n t e r n a t i o n al c o l l a b o r a t o rs available e n a b l i ng s t u d e n ts to s p e nd one to t w o years to c omp l e te a degree p r o g r amme i n Australia, UK , USA, H o n g K o n g a nd ma i n l a nd China. I n 2004-05, general courses, sub-degree p r o g r ammes a nd part-time award-bearing p r o g r ammes attracted over 36,000 students. The b r o ad range of courses a nd programmes are managed t h r o u gh six divisions: • A r t, Mu s ic & the Huma n i t i es • Business & Ma n a g eme nt • Comp u t er Science & I n f o r ma t i on Technology • Traditional Chinese Me d i c i ne & He a l th Care • Languages & Translation • Social Sciences & Security Studies The Asia-Pacific Institute of Business (APIB) p r o v i d es a w i d e range of business p o s t g r a d u a te a nd executive d i p l oma courses to help managers i n the business c ommu n i ty adapt to the r a p i d ly changing knowledge-based economy. U p o n c omp l e t i on of the courses, students earn credit f r om professional bodies i n their disciplines. T h ey can also advance their studies to the O n e MB A, G l o b al Executive M B A P r o g r am offered b y the Faculty of Business A dm i n i s t r a t i o n.
