• E x emp l a ry Service A w a r d 2004-05: I n 2004-05, e i g ht staff memb e rs f r om d i f f e r e nt d e p a r t me n t s / u n i ts were selected for the awa rd based o n such criteria as manners and attitude, job knowledge and skills, and customer satisfaction. • The I n f o r ma t i on Technology Services Centre o r g a n i z ed d i f f e r e nt c omp u t er e d u c a t i on programmes for 2,210 staff members. They include training on office applications, web-based teaching tools, Internet security solutions, special programmes, and so on wh i ch are specific to the University's IT environment. These programmes were delivered t h r o u gh instructor- based lectures, online teaching and self-learning courses. • The Centre for Learning Enhancement and Research conducted a n umb er of courses and activities designed to support teaching and learning enhancement for teaching staff members. 473 participants took part i n such events i n the past year. Other Personnel Policies, Services, and Conditions of Service Network Hospitals Scheme (NHS) U p o n review of the operation of NHS under the Staff Medical Benefits Schemes (SMBS) after its pilot r u n last year, the University extended NHS for a further period of three years f r om 1st July 2005. The review indicated that N HS has p r o v i d ed SMBS members w i t h more flexibility on the use of hospital benefits while maintaining the University's spending on staff medical benefits at an affordable level. Medical Insurance Plan for Retirees (MIPR) To avail eligible retirees a nd their spouses of access to me d i c al insurance cover on t op of outpatient care at UHS, M I PR was launched on a wh o l ly self-paid and voluntary basis f r om 1st July 2005. O n its inaugural date, more than 100 retirees and their spouses joined. Employee Assistance Programme The University continued to offer the Employee Assistance Programme (EAP) i n the interest of p r omo t i ng employee well-being and b u i l d i ng u p a productive and healthy workforce wh i ch w i l l continue to be effective contributors to the University's goals. A core E AP service is the Professional Personal Coun s e l l i ng a nd Co n s u l t a t i on w h i c h offers professional advice and counselling to staff i n times of personal, family or w o r k difficulty. This service also includes employee development training programmes, such as stress and change management, wh i ch aims at equipping staff to cope w i t h new challenges. 敎 職 員 Staff 7 1
