Student Population This year the University registered a slight increase of 1.4 per cent i n undergraduate student enrolment, and a 16.7 per cent increase i n postgraduate student enrolment, wh i ch was the result of the i n t r odu c t i on of a number of self-financed taught postgraduate programmes. On 31st December 2004, the total en r o l ment f i gu re stood at 17,907, of w h o m 53.8 per cent were undergraduate students and 46.2 per cent postgraduate students. Graduates A total of 6,279 students completed their studies i n 2004-05, including 2,642 first degree students, 1,081 postgraduate diploma students, and 2,556 higher degree students. This brought the total cumulative number of graduates since 1966 to 93,597. Student Activities Du r i ng 2004-05, a wide range of extra-curricular activities were organized through student unions of the University and the four colleges, over 100 faculty and departmental societies, and other student affiliated clubs. These activities were instrumental i n enhancing students' intellectual growth, strengthening their self-esteem, and enriching campus life. Student performed we ll i n various activities and competitions. The University debating teams w o n the overall championship i n the Intervarsity Debating Contest 2005 while the CU Row i ng Team clinched the overall championship i n bo th the 10th H o ng K o ng Universities Row i ng Championship and the 5th Ho ng Kong Universities Indoor Row i ng Championship i n 2004. 學生和校友 Students and Alumni 7 5
