中大運動員於全國羽毛球及網球賽勇摘一金三銀兩銅，並分別獲大會頒發「體育道德風尚獎」 CUHK badminton and tennis teams outperformed their opponents at national badminton and tennis championships and clinched one gold, three silvers and two br zed. Both teams received the Sports Ethics and Fair Play Prizes. 兩名中大學生獲得香港中華總商會優異大專學生獎 TwoCUHK students receiving excellence awards from theChinese General Chamber ofCommerce Ms. E v e l yn C h an H i u - t u n g, a U n i t ed College student ma j o r i ng i n business administration, was awa r d ed the Rhodes Scholarship 2005 to further her studies at O x f o rd University. Scholarships and Financial Assistance D u r i n g the p e r i od u n d er review, the total amo u nt g i v en o u t i n the f o r m of scholarships a nd f i n a n c i al assistance f or s t u d e n ts w a s HK $ 4 4 . 15 m i l l i o n, of w h i c h HK $ 2 9 . 91 m i l l i o n w as administered b y the Office of Student A f f a i rs a nd the rest b y the f o ur colleges. A total of 1,953 University- a nd college-administered scholarships a nd prizes w i t h an aggregate value of HK$22.64 m i l l i on was awa r d ed to students w i t h o u t s t a n d i ng academic achievements. Seventy-seven of these scholarships w o r t h a total of HK$2.36 m i l l i on were awa r d ed to students w i t h o u t s t a n d i ng p e r f o r ma n ce i n the H K C EE w h o we re a dm i t t ed v ia the Ea r ly A dm i s s i o ns Scheme. O f these 1,953 awards, about eight per cent carried a value sufficient to cover the annual t u i t i on fee of HK$42,100 or more. I n addition, about HK$4.39 m i l l i on was granted to 134 students for p a r t i c i p a t i ng i n Un i v e r s i t y- arranged exchange p r o g r amme s, postgraduate studies, conferences a nd overseas s t u dy tours. Me a n t i me 123 s t u d e n ts f r om the m a i n l a nd we re a w a r d ed scholarships i n v o l v i ng HK$12.08 m i l l i on for their studies i n H o n g Ko n g. I n 2004-05, HK$3.88 m i l l i on was g i v en out i n the f o r m of loans a nd HK$1.16 m i l l i on i n the f o r m of bursaries to h e lp those students w h o failed to benefit f r om the g o v e r nme n t 's Local Student Finance Scheme.
