18 between CUHK and the Centre National de la Recherche Scientifique (CNRS) was signed to promote research cooperation and scientific cooperation between CNRS laboratories and departments at CUHK. A collaboration in Chinese medicine was cemented by the signing of an MOU between the Institute of Chinese Medicine at CUHK and the École Nationale Supérieure de Chimie de Paris. CUHK signed 65 MOUs for academic exchange in 2005-06. Of these, 48 were for new partnerships and programmes, and 17 were for renewals.
