學術發展 Academic Development 29 學術發展 Academic Development • The faculty organized a series of activities to celebrate its 40th anniversary in 2005. Student societies held competitions and a Teachers’ Festival. The faculty also launched an alumni donation scheme and organized the Round-the-CU Walkathon cum Carnival in November 2005. Spread throughout the year was a series of public lectures given by prominent scholars from abroad. Celebrations culminated in an international conference on developing teacher leadership and education partnership in December 2005. • The faculty introduced three formal programmes in the teaching of Liberal Studies in 2005-06. It also coordinated with other departments/faculties to launch two Saturday Series on Liberal Studies in the 1st and 2nd term of 2005-06. • The Centre for University and School Partnership received two donations to the tune of $1.5 million and $1 million from The Hung Hing Ying and Leung Hau Ling Chan Fable Foundation and New Method College respectively in support of school development projects. The Department of Sports Science won a major research grant of $5.34 million from the Innovation and Technology Fund and the local footwear industry to conduct research on footwear. The project was selected to participate in the China Hi-Tech Fair 2005 in Shenzhen and the Innovation Festival 2005 in Hong Kong. • The Hong Kong Centre for the Development of Educational Leadership introduced a number of new leadership and school development programmes. One of these, entitled ‘Blue Skies’, is a 12-month learning programme for beginning principals who start at the end of their first year in post. It was developed in close partnership with practising principals. • The faculty organized several conferences during the year: – Conference on Quality Education (25-27 August 2005 in Changchun) – Conference ‘From “Basics” to “Higher Order Thinking”: The Potential of Bianshi Teaching in the Enhancement of Mathematics Education’ (2 December 2005) – International Conference on Developing Teacher Leadership and Education Partnership in the Face of Education Reform (2-3 December 2005) – International Conference ‘Counselling Youth in Transition – Innovations in Research and Practice’ (27 May 2006) 教育學院成立四十周年慶祝典禮 40th anniversary ceremony
