44 The Research Centre for Contemporary Chinese Culture, Institute of Chinese Studies The centre has completed two projects in 2005-06, namely ‘The Forma- tion and Transformation of Chinese Nationalism in the Perspective of History of Ideas (1840-1924)’, funded by RGC’s Direct Grant for Research, and ‘Confucian Traditions and the Politico-Cultural Transformation of China, Japan and Korea in the Nineteenth Century: A Comparative Study’, funded by the Chiang Ching-kuo Foundation for International Scholarly Exchange. It has also expanded to about 80 million words its existing full-text Database for Studies of Modern Chinese Thought, which includes newspapers and historical documents from Late-Qing to May- Fourth China. Research Centre for Translation In the year under review, the centre’s main research-related tasks were co-organizing with the CUHK Translation Department a poetry reading by Bei Dao on 30 June 2006 and conducting research and preparation work for a two-volume anthology of 20th century Hong Kong literature in the Renditions Books Series. Research Institute for the Humanities In 2005-06, the five centres of the institute engaged in various research activities and publication projects. • The Centre for Hong Kong Cultural Studies is expecting the release of two new titles in the Hong Kong Cultural Studies Series. The books will examine the links between Hong Kong and Japanese movies, and Cantonese operatic songs. • The Research Centre for Comparative City Cultures has completed two research projects: ‘The Walls and Waters: A Comparative Study of City Cultures in Modern Asia: Shanghai, Hong Kong and Singapore’ and the ‘Cultural Relations and Interactions: Hong Kong and Shenzhen’. A book entitled Cultural Relations and Interactions: Shanghai and Hong Kong , was published as a result of the Conference on Cultural Relations and Interactions organized by the centre in 2004. • The Research Centre for Confucian Studies organized the international conference ‘Ming Taizu and His Times’ which convened at CUHK from 28 to 30 March 2006, and embarked on a research project entitled ‘Classical Lectures and Statecraft Conception in the Court of Ming China, 1368-1644’ in September 2005. • In September 2005, the Research Centre for Humanities Computing launched ‘Transmission of Philosophical Thoughts Within and Across Cultural Borders: A Historical-Geographical Approach’, an interdisciplinary project with the aim of building a research platform for the study of the history of world philosophy. 合作研究兩項臨床難題:中風後期的治理及睡眠 失調症。六所大學將就其研究專長發展兩條有效 方劑。 中國文化研究所當代中國文化研究中心 該中心於二零零五至零六年度完成了兩項研究計 劃,分別為由研資局直接撥款資助的「中國民族主 義起源及其型態演變的觀念史研究(一八四零—一 九二四)」及蔣經國國際學術交流基金會贊助的 「儒學傳統與十九世紀中、日、韓政治文化轉型比 較研究 」。中心所建立的「中國近現代思想史專業 數據庫」已由去年的七千萬字擴展至八千萬字,收 錄晚清至五四時代各種報刊、史料檔案及各類文獻 資料,為現今世界上研究中國近現代思想史功能最 強、收錄範圍最廣之數據庫。 翻譯研究中心 二零零五至零六年度,該中心的主要研究項目包括 與翻譯系合辦了「北島詩歌朗誦會」,以及負責「二 十世紀香港文學英譯作品集」專書之研究及出版工 作,專書一套兩冊,將收入《譯叢》叢書系列。 人文學科研究所 在二零零五至零六年度,研究所轄下的五個中心中 心進行了多項研究及出版活動,詳情如下: ·香港文化研究中心正準備推出兩本香港文化研 究系列專書,分別名為《港日電影關係》及《粵 韻留聲》。 ·比較城市文化研究中心完成了兩項研究計劃, 分別為「城牆和海水:近代亞洲城市(上海、香 港、新加坡)文化研究」及「香港與深圳之文化 關係與互動」。中心亦出版了書藉《雙龍吐艷: 滬港之文化交流與互動》,為二零零四年由中心 舉辦的「滬港雙城之文化交流與互動」學術研討 會論文集。 ·儒學研究中心的研究活動包括籌辦「明太祖及其 時代」國際學術會議,會議於二零零六年三月二 十八至三十日舉行,集合三十一位元來自歐美東 亞等國家及地區的專家學者發表論文。此外,中 心獲研資局撥款,於二零零五年九月開展「明代經 筵講讀與治國觀念」研究計劃,為期兩年。 ·人文電算研究中心獲研資局撥款,於二零零五年 九月開展一項跨學科研究,題為「從歷史地理角 度探討哲學思想之跨文化傳播」。計劃著重研究 不同思想文化傳統之互動關係,旨於為世界哲學 的歷史建立研究平台。
