62 Archives of the Qing Imperial Household Department , compiled with The First Historical Archives of China and published by the People’s Publishing House, was launched in December 2005, the first 55 volumes out of a complete set of 220 volumes. The museum worked frequently with other departments of the University. While the Graduation Exhibition of the Department of Fine Arts was an annual joint presentation with the Fine Arts Department, ‘Chinese Cultural Heritage in Art’ was a course run in recent years for the General Education Office. Furthermore, to foster Chinese art education, the museum participated in International Museum Day 2006 organized by the Leisure and Cultural Services Department and provided free authentication services to the university community as well as members of the public. The Chinese University Press produced 78 publications during 2005-06. These included 24 academic titles, 22 general titles, eight issues of scholarly journals, and 24 revised/reprinted titles. Provision of Continuing and Professional Education With effect from 1 January 2006, the School of Continuing Studies was renamed the School of Continuing and Professional Studies, but it was decided to retain the familiar initials SCS. During the year, the SCS continued to uphold its vision of ‘fostering whole-person development and progressing with changes in local and global learning needs’, and offered an incremental number of specialized and professional courses and programmes. SCS celebrated its 40th anniversary in 2005 with a variety of events, including a series of Business Leaders Forums and the Sixth Cross-Strait Forum on Continuing Education. SCS continued to flourish as it enrolled more full-time sub-degree students. The learning centres in Tsim Sha Tsui (Oriental Centre and East Ocean Centre) and Central (Bank of America Tower) could now accommodate about 1,500 full-time associate degree and higher diploma students. The newly opened 2nd floor of the Central Learning Centre at the Bank of America Tower can also provide students with more space for learning and other activities. There is a considerable growth in corporate training services for companies in the Mainland and Hong Kong. In 2005-06, general courses, sub-degree programmes and part-time award-bearing programmes attracted over 40,000 students. The wide range of courses and programmes were managed through six divisions: • Art, Music and the Humanities • Business and Management • Languages and Translation • Science and Information Technology • Social Sciences and Security Studies • Traditional Chinese Medicine and Health Care 擴展持續教育 提倡終身學習 校外進修學院為配合發展,於二零零六年一月一日 正式易名為專業進修學院。專業進修學院繼續秉 承其「致力全人教育,植根香港,放眼世界,為有志 進修人士提供終身學習的機會」的使命,提供更多 專業進修課程。 學院於二零零五年舉辦各類活動,以慶祝成立四十 周年。這些活動包括連串商界領袖論壇及第六屆海 峽兩岸繼續教育論壇。 學院年內取錄更多全日制副學位學生,位於尖沙咀 安年大廈及東海商業中心與中環美國銀行中心的 上課中心設備完善,可服務約一千五百多名全日制 副學士及高級文憑學生。美國銀行中心二樓的新樓 層亦正式啟用,學生可享有更多學習及活動空間。 因應國內及香港各行各業的需要,學院在提供各類 型的企業培訓課程有顯著的增幅。 二零零五至零六年度,學院的短期課程、副學位及 兼讀制學術課程,共吸引四萬多名學員入讀。各類 課程由以下六個學部統籌: ·藝術、音樂及人文學科 ·商業及管理 ·語文及翻譯 ·科學及資訊科技 ·社會科學及保安學 ·中醫藥及醫療保健
