6 Academic Links By the end of the academic year, the University had entered into student exchange arrangements with over 200 institutions in more than 25 countries and regions, providing our students with ample opportunities for overseas exposure. The number of outgoing exchange students during the year reached 619, representing 22% of the annual cohort. About 2,210 others went abroad for shorter periods of stay or internship, while 1,053 foreign students came from different parts of the world to study on our campus, registering an increase of 23% over the previous year. As in the past years, I led delegations of University officers and other representatives to universities around the world to promote our strengths and foster alliances with these institutions. In 2007–08, some 60 memoranda of understanding were signed, resulting in 40 new partnerships and programmes with institutions including Brown, Cardiff, George Mason, Hitotsubashi, Melbourne, Notre Dame, Oxford, Peking, Texas, and the University of London. In 2007–08, CUHK received over 300 delegations from mainland China and other parts of the world. Visitors included prominent educators and scholars such as Prof. Xu Zhihong, President of Peking University; Prof. Zhan Tao, President of Shandong University; Prof. Lu Yongxiang, President of the Chinese Academy of Sciences; Dr. Sun Laiyan, Administrator of the China National Space Administration; Prof. Kare Bremer, Vice-Chancellor of Stockholm University; Lord Wilson, former Governor of Hong Kong and Chancellor of the University of Aberdeen; and Dr. David Grant, Vice-Chancellor of Cardiff University. 知識交流　智略輻輳 截至本學年底，大學已與逾二十五個國家 和地區超過二百所院校簽訂交換生計劃， 為學生提供大量體驗海外學習的機會。本 年度共有六百一十九名同學到海外當交換 生，約佔該屆入學學生總數百分之二十二； 另外約有二千二百一十名學生參加短期交 流或實習計劃。由世界各地來中大交流的 海外生數目，則達一千零五十三人之譜， 較去年上升百分之二十三。 一如以往，我多次率領代表團出訪海外， 向各地院校宣揚本校優勢，並與之締結聯 盟。過去一年共簽訂約六十份備忘錄，其 中四十份為新的夥伴協作計劃和課程，合 作院校包括布朗大學、卡迪夫大學、喬治 梅森大學、一橋大學、墨爾本大學、聖母 院大學、牛津大學、北京大學、德克薩斯 大學及倫敦大學。 在二零零七至零八年度，共有逾三百個內 地和海外訪問團蒞校訪問，當中不乏聲名 卓著的教育家和學者，如北京大學校長許 智宏教授、山東大學校長展濤教授、中國 科學院院長路甬祥教授、國家航天局孫來 燕局長、斯德哥爾摩大學校長Prof. Kare Bremer、曾任香港總督的阿伯丁大學校 監衞奕信勳爵，以及卡迪夫大學校長Dr. David Grant等。 迎新學制　漸次就緒 二零一二年復行本科四年制的準備工作， 諸如設計課程綱要、增加教學和基本設施 等，仍為大學當務之急。我們會加強通識 教育和語文訓練，並積極籌建以學生為本 劉遵義校長（中）與海外交換生 Prof. Lawrence J.
