42 中醫藥學與功能性腸病研究 Chinese Medicine for Functional Bowel Disorders 研究由中大中醫學院、內科及藥物治療學系及解剖學系,聯同其他學術機構合作,為 首個獲美國國家衞生研究所資助、以香港為主要研究基地的國際合作項目,目的是 就中藥及針灸治療腸胃焦慮症的成效和安全性確立證據。中醫學院院長車鎮濤教 授擔任研究項目負責人,專責藥材質素、臨床試驗所用藥方之生產,以及臨床前藥 理學和毒理學等範疇。 The project is the first US National Institutes of Health-funded project of this type in which the Hong Kong collaborators play the major roles. Carried out by the CUHK School of Chinese Medicine (SCM), Department of Medicine and Therapeutics, Department of Anatomy and other academic organizations, the project aims at establishing evidence in regard to the efficacy and safety of Chinese medicinal prescriptions and acupuncture for the treatment of irritable bowel syndrome. Prof. C.T. Che, director of SCM, is the project leader responsible for the quality assurance of the herbal ingredients, the manufacture of an herbal formula for clinical trials, as well as pre-clinical pharmacology and toxicology. 社會科學院 Faculty of Social Science 理學院 Faculty of Science 建立分析複雜數據的認知建模 Development of Cognitive Framework for Analysing Complex Data 研究由地理學講座教授梁怡教授領導,針對高複雜性數據的處理需求,運用認知和 感知的定律,結合地理學、數學、統計學、非線性科學、信息科學等多種學科的方法 與技術,並利用人的智能與機器的性能,構建以認知及生物定律為基礎的數據建模 方法。其理論成果與算法可有效從地震空間與時間分布數據中自動劃分地震帶及活 躍時期,以及從遙感或雷達數據中,判別不同的地表、地形和資源分布。 Led by Prof. Leung Yee, Professor of Geography, the novel research on the analysis of complex data capitalizes on the power of human intelligence and machine efficiency to model highly complex data through the integrated employment of novel methods in geography, mathematics, statistics, non-linear analysis, and information sciences on the basis of cognitive and biological laws. The theoretical results and algorithms can effectively help to discover seismic belts and active seismic episodes from spatial and temporal earthquake data. It also puts forward a theoretical construct for applications in identifying land covers and natural resources hidden in remote sensing, as well as radar data. 雷達數據顯示的地表狀況 Land covers shown by radar data
