49 服 務 香 港 放 眼 世 界 Service to Hong Kong and the World 推動公眾健康 中大消化疾病研究所在二零零八年五月推 出為期五年的「香港大腸癌：教育、宣傳及 篩查」計劃，為一萬名五十歲以上沒有大 腸癌病史的人士提供免費檢驗。計劃還包 括成立香港中文大學賽馬會大腸癌教育 中心，透過宣傳展覽、講座及義工培訓， 讓市民認識大腸癌的成因、症狀、治療及 預防方法，從而減低死亡率。 此外，中大香港糖尿病及肥胖症研究所獲 丘耀西教育及慈善紀念基金捐款，於二零 零八年三月成立丘中傑糖尿病檢測中心。 中心以市價四分一，即四百八十港元，為 糖尿病人提供全面的風險及併發症檢測， 並按檢測結果建議合適的治療。價格相宜 的定期檢測服務，既可減輕公立醫療體系 的負擔，亦有助及早辨識併發症風險，讓 病人得到診治。 另外，那打素護理學院製作了「護理小百 科─糖尿病人士健康生活網站」，協助糖 尿病患者提升自我照顧能力，並給予其照 顧者支援。 Promotion of Health Awareness The Institute of Digestive Disease of CUHK launched the five-year ‘Bowel Cancer in Hong Kong: Education, Promotion and Screening Project’ in May 2008. The programme allowed 10,000 asymptomatic individuals aged over 50 to undergo free bowel cancer screening tests. The CUHK Jockey Club Bowel Cancer Education Centre was established as part of the project. It is hoped that through the centre’s education programmes, the prevalence and mortality rate of bowel cancer in Hong Kong can be reduced as a result of better understanding of the disease. With a generous donation by the Yao Yiu Sai Education and Charitable Memorial Fund, the Hong Kong Institute of Diabetes and Obesity set up the Yao Chung Kit Diabetes Assessment Centre in March 2008. The centre offers a comprehensive, evidence- based, diabetes risk assessment programme at only HK$480, 25% of the market price. By providing an affordable regular assessment service, the centre hopes to ease the overwhelming burden on the public health system and facilitate timely treatment for patients.
