72 User Survey The LibQual + TM Library Survey was conducted in November 2007. A total of 2,928 valid responses were received and half of them supplied written comments. The results indicated that the users were satisfied with the quality of Library services. The ratings were benchmarked against the survey outcomes of peer institutions, including 177 colleges and universities around the world. The Library’s overall service performance rating of 0.70 is notably higher than the peer group’s average rating of 0.49. Serving the Academic Community With the support from the Chinese Studies as a focused area of research, two digital projects, namely, the Modern Chinese Literature Research Portal (MCLRP) and the Modern Chinese Literature Full-text Database (MCLFD), were funded by the University for a period of two years. MCLRP aims to centrally classify and index modern Chinese literature resources scattered on the mainland, in Hong Kong, Taiwan and other overseas universities and sinology research centres, while MCLFD provides original text for researchers, scholars, students and the public. Featured Exhibitions The exhibition entitled ‘Gao Xingjian: Literature and Art’ was held from 23 May to 8 June 2008. Monographs, magazines, journal articles, photographs, manuscripts, posters and paintings of the Gao Xingjian Repository, one of the Special Collections of the Library, were displayed. Featured items included the manuscript of Soul Mountain , paintings by Dr. Gao and translations of Soul Mountain and One Man’s Bible in different languages. The CUHK Library, and the Nanyang Technological University (NTU) Library jointly held the ‘Exhibition of Autographed Books by Chinese and Singaporean Writers of Modern Chinese Literature’ in the NTU Library from 10 April to 9 May 2008 in Singapore.
