8 International Links Over the years, CUHK has entered into bilateral student exchange arrangements with over 200 institutions in 28 countries and regions, providing our students with ample opportunities for overseas exposure and experience. In 2008–09, 1,134 CUHK students participated in student exchange and study programmes outside Hong Kong. Another 1,780 students were given other opportunities of experiential learning abroad. On the incoming side, we received 625 international students who came from different parts of the world to study on our campus. An additional 433 students (international and Chinese from overseas) attended our annual International Summer School. In 2008–09, 80 memoranda of understanding were signed with overseas institutions of higher learning, 41 of which being new partnerships and programmes. Our new partners include the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile; Centre National de la Recherche Scientifique and École Nationale Supérieure de Chimie de Paris; the University of Oxford China Centre; the House Ear Institute and Yeshiva University, both in the US. During the same year, CUHK received a total of 269 delegations from the Greater China region and 23 other countries. These delegates, often senior officers of the visiting institutions, were introduced to our missions and initiatives, and had first- hand encounters with our heritage and campus settings. Such visits brought about deeper mutual 中大訪問團與麻省理工學院校長Prof. Susan Hockfield（右四）及常務副校長Prof. Rafael Reif（右三）會面 The CUHK delegation was received by President Susan Hockfield (4th right) and Provost Rafael Reif (3rd right) of MIT 中大在二零零六至零七年間增設了五所 新書院。莫理斯教授和辛世文教授分別出 任晨興書院和善衡書院院長，我們深慶得 人，兩所新書院的院務室亦已開始運作， 準備錄取首批學生。其他三所新書院（敬 文書院、伍宜孫書院、和聲書院）的籌劃、 基建和招聘工作進展俱佳。相信五所新書 院均能於二零一二年準備就緒，容納屆時 額外招收的三千名本科生，為他們提供中 大一向珍而重之的全人教育。 國際聯繫 續拓新疆 我們與二十八個國家和地區超過二百所 院校簽訂了雙邊交換生協議，為學生提 供大量到海外交流學習的機會。二零零 八至零九年度共有一千一百三十四名中 大生參與交換生計劃，另有一千七百八十 人參加其他海外交流活動。年內到中大留 學的外地交換生則達六百二十五人，另有 四百三十三名海外生（國際生和海外華裔 學生）來港參加我們的國際暑期課程。 在二零零八至零九年度，本校與海外高 等院校共簽訂了八十份合作備忘錄，其中 四十一份是新的夥伴協作計劃和課程， 合作院校包括智利天主教大學、法國國家 科學研究中心、法國國立巴黎高等化工學 校、英國牛津大學中國研究所、美國的洛 杉磯豪斯耳科研究中心與耶希華大學等。
