7 引 言 Introduction On individual achievements, the intellectual fervour and perseverance of a great number of our scholars and researchers attracted the recognition of their peers and regional and international academic organizations. Professor Yau Shing-tung, Fields Medalist (and our alumnus and Distinguished Professor-at-Large), was awarded the prestigious Wolf Prize in Mathematics. Other colleagues received honours and recognition in their respective fields of research, including Professor Christopher H.K. Cheng, Professor Du Ruxu, Professor Jiang Liwen, Professor Leung Ki-che Angela, Professor Liao Wei-hsin, Professor Lui Chi-shing John, Professor Meng Mei-ling Helen and Professor Xia Keqing. I extend my hearty congratulations not only to those just named but also to many more among us whose feats may be unsung but nonetheless will be making real and substantial impact on the lives of many others. Preparations for 3+3+4 In preparation for the reversion to the ‘3+3+4’ normative curriculum in 2012, various academic and logistical initiatives were prioritized. As was mentioned in an early section of this report, finishing touches were being put on the new undergraduate curriculum. Apart from curriculum reform, an integrated student-oriented information system—the Chinese University Student Information System (CUSIS)—was built with the aim of enabling all data relating to students to be efficiently managed throughout their period of study as well as after graduation. The first phase of CUSIS focusing on student-related functions was completed and launched in the summer of 2010 to facilitate student registration and course enrolment in the new academic year. 在個人成就方面，本校為數甚多的學者與 研究人員，憑着熱誠和堅毅贏得同儕或地 區和國際學術機構的認同。菲爾茲獎得主 丘成桐教授（中大校友兼博文講座教授） 榮獲著名的沃爾夫數學獎。其他在各自研 究領域獲得殊榮的，還有鄭漢其教授、杜如 虛教授、姜里文教授、梁其姿教授、廖維新 教授、呂自成教授、蒙美玲教授和夏克青教 授；我衷心恭賀他們。至於不少默默耕耘的 大學同仁，目前雖未獲推許，但同樣造福人 群，貢獻至巨，我也向他們致意。 為三三四學制做準備 為應付二零一二年恢復四年制本科生課 程，各種學術和後勤支援措施已率先展 開。如前文所述，新的本科生課程已到最 後定案階段。除了課程改革外，我們還設 計了以服務學生為本的綜合資訊管理系統 ──「中大學生資訊系統」，俾能更有效管 理學生由入學至畢業後的資料。該系統第 一階段集中於學生常用的功能，已在二零 一零年夏天啟用，方便新學年註冊和 選課。 黃乃正副校長在本科入學講座致歡迎辭 Prof. Henry N.C.
