8 All the capital works addressing the anticipated needs of teaching and research were in good progress. These included the Centralized General Research Lab Complex in Area 39, the Student Amenities Centre, and the extension work on the University Library. The Cheng Yu Tung Building on Chak Cheung Street was completed and became the new home of our Faculty of Business Administration. Morningside College and S.H. Ho College began their first admission exercise in 2009–10. In January 2010, the foundation stone was laid for Lee Woo Sing College. In June, the foundation stone was also laid for Wu Yee Sun College. The planning and/ or physical construction of all the new Colleges are on full steam. I envision that by 2012, when all the new Colleges are in operation, our much cherished college system will fully bloom with many scents and flavours to offer wider choices and experiences to our undergraduate students. International Links The opportunity of overseas exchange study is an integral part of our undergraduate education. In 2009–10, a total of 709 of our students ventured abroad for academic exchange for a semester or more with our 220 exchange partner universities around the world. In addition, other students also went on short-term programmes of study, internships, experiential learning and community service. During the same period, our campus played host to 1,223 mainland and international students in exchange or summer programmes. In 2009–10 the University continued to expand and deepen academic relationships with leading institutions of higher learning and research around the world.
