Learning Within and Beyond the Classroom 15 On 15 March, Miss Ann Hui, renowned film director, summed up her 30 years as a film-maker in a lecture entitled ‘The Humility of Success’, analyzing the themes and styles of her films in different stages of her career, and discussing how aspects of life were captured on celluloid. The third lecture, which took place on 21 March, featured Prof. Pai Hsien-yung, world-renowned writer. In this lecture named ‘The Resilience of Youth’, Professor Pai shared with the audience his youthful dream of changing and enlightening the literary circles in Taiwan by publishing Modern Literature , the most influential literary magazine in the island in the 1960s. He also told the audience about his dream of promoting kunqu by devoting his retirement to producing The Peony Pavilion: Young Lovers’ Edition , while witnessing the neglect of this precious art. 3 月 15 日，第二回博群大講堂邀得著名導演 許鞍華女士以「功成百煉」為題，剖白執導 三十年的心路歷程，與中大師生分享成功 背後的百般歷練，回顧她不同時期的作品 主題和風格，探討如何透過電影反映現實 百態。 第三回博群大講堂在 3 月 21 日舉行，著名作 家白先勇以「永遠的青春夢」為題，講述貫 穿他一生的青春夢二重奏──青年時代創 辦《現代文學》，為台灣文壇新闢一片不設 門戶的園地，成為台灣六十年代最有影響 力之文學雜誌；退休後眼看崑曲這中國文化 瑰寶漸被遺忘，又做起推動崑曲的夢來，投 入製作青春版《牡丹亭》。
