Serving and Caring 35 確定了村民在衞生健康方面的需要與不足 後,學生即計劃和設計健康教育活動的內 容及教學模式。他們與社區合作,找出適合 當地受災風險的防備及應變方案,同時亦 教導村民其他與健康有關的知識,例如非 傳染性疾病的預防和管理,以及環境衞生、 垃圾處理等。學生切身體會到在農村地區 實踐公共衞生的困難,學習如何面對期望 與現實的落差,適度妥協,並在艱險中期盼 收成。 截至 2012 年 5 月, CCOUC 在長江源頭和 黃河高原地區已完成兩個項目,直接惠及 四百六十六名村民,另外預計三千名村民將 可通過家庭及社區間的知識轉移獲得相關 知識。 CCOUC 已完成廣西、貴州、甘肅和 海南省的初步考察,選定日後項目的開展 地點,並會於未來三年繼續把服務擴展到 中國其他地區。 In order to deliver the most effective interventions, thorough needs assessments were carried out in the first visits. Students conducted household interviews and focus groups to explore villagers’ attitude and experiences of devastating natural disasters, their disaster preparedness pattern, health status as well as access to health services. After ascertaining the health needs and gaps from the assessment, students then proceeded to plan and develop materials for health education campaigns. Students worked with the community to identify context-specific disaster preparedness solutions, and imparted knowledge on other health-related themes, such as non-communicable diseases and environmental hygiene. They then had a real taste of how challenging it was to practise public health in reality, especially in rural areas. As of May 2012, CCOUC had established and implemented programmes in two project sites, namely, origin of Yangtze River and high plateau of Yellow River, which directly benefited 466 villagers. The project is projected to reach another 3,000 villagers through knowledge transfer within and among these households. CCOUC has surveyed potential sites in Guangxi, Guizhou, Gansu, and Hainan provinces and will continue to expand the project to other parts of China in the next three years. 李 寶 儀 攝 Photo by Poyi Lee
