CUHK 50th Anniversary 15 Ô CU50 • CareÕ Programme The University has launched the ‘CU50 • Care’ programme, which encourages all members of the University, including students, staff, alumni and friends, to 50 hours of community service commitments within the jubilee year, assembling their power to contribute to our society. The service focuses on five key areas, namely, the elderly, children, ethnic minority groups, environmental protection and medical and health care. The programme kicked off with a tree planting day held at the Ma On Shan Country Park on 11 May 2013. Prof. Joseph J.Y. Sung, together with 200 students, staff, alumni and their families, carried the seedlings of Hong Kong Gordonia uphill to Luk Chau Shan at the Park to plant them there. In collaboration with Yang Memorial Methodist Social Service, ‘CU50 • Care Campaign’ organized the ‘Dragon Boat Festival Elderly Care Programme’ on 8 June. More than 40 CUHK community members volunteered to visit the elderly living in the Wong Tai Sin District, bringing with them traditional Chinese rice dumplings and gift packs to celebrate the festival with the elderly. The programme teamed up with HKSKH Lady MacLehose Centre to organize a visit to the elderly living at Shek Lei Estate in Kwai Chung on 27 July. Over 20 CUHK volunteers joined this meaningful event. 在 2013 年 5 月 11 日,此計劃下的社區植樹日 於馬鞍山郊野公園舉行,沈祖堯校長聯同 二百多位中大人前往馬鞍山郊野公園鹿巢 山,把大頭茶樹苗遍植山上,為綠化香港出 一分力。 6 月 8 日是端午節前夕,四十名中大義工參 與循道衞理楊震彩虹長者綜合服務中心舉 辦的「端陽暖萬心——關懷長者服務計劃 2013 」,為黃大仙區的獨居長者送上應節 糭子及禮物包,表達關懷和慰問。 7 月 27 日,「中大五十 • 關懷」計劃與香港 聖公會麥理浩夫人中心合作,二十多位中大 師生、職員、校友及其親友組成義工隊,帶 同小禮物探訪居住在葵涌石籬邨的長者。
