另一間國家重點實驗室。這些機構和 設施都是專門配合大學在人文學科、 醫學和社會科學等領域的高深研究, 有關它們的更詳細介紹,見「發展里 程」一章。 大學在2013至14年度另一進展可觀的 領域,是開設嶄新的學術課程,在教 學法方面有所創新,並推出大型公開 網上課程(MOOC)。有關這方面的詳 情及學生的評價,見「嶄新課程與嶄 新學習方式」一章。 研究成果 中大是國際知名的研究型大學,校內 資深研究人員孜孜不倦,埋首鑽研, 所獲得成果常令我們感到振奮和鼓 舞。一如以往,本年度的研究成果既 豐且碩。在2013至14年度,中大有不 少研究突破,有些獲得國際管理和評 審機構頒發獎項嘉許,並刊載於著名 學術期刊,我在此介紹兩項。第一個 是以磁力操縱的微型機械裝置,能夠 把細胞和藥物運送到人體特定部位。 在這項與亞洲和歐洲夥伴合作的研究 中,本校研究人員發現以磁場操控裝 置移動,帶來突破,克服了在細於毫 毛的空間內裝設馬達等機電零件的 困難。這種新技術有望革新微創醫 療,惠澤深廣,至為關鍵。 本年度另一項在中大的實驗室內出現 的重要突破,是關於培育耐鹽大豆。 中大科學家採用基因組學、遺傳學 和分子生物學的最新技術,研究大豆 的耐鹽基因特徵,找出主宰大豆耐鹽 程度的主效基因,並用轉基因方法把 該目標基因放入植物細胞。這發現將 Kong. Accommodated in the Yasumoto International Academic Park, the museum, set up with generous financial backing from the Hong Kong Jockey Club, features a multi-media exhibition of information regarding global climatic changes, with special emphasis on the disasters that global warming is capable of bringing to mankind. It is much visited by school groups as well as individual citizens for its unique and informative, educational displays. The year under review also saw the inauguration of a number of research centres and facilities on campus, and the installation of another State Key Laboratory by decree of the Ministry of Science and Technology. These institutions cater to advanced-level research in the humanities, medicine, and the social sciences, and a more detailed description of them may be read in the chapter on ‘Development Milestones’. Another area in which the University made remarkable progress in 2013–14 comprised innovations in academic curricula and in pedagogical methodology, and the formal introduction of Massive Open Online Courses (MOOC). The details involved, together with feedback from students, are recorded in the chapter on ‘New Programmes and New Learning Methods’. Research Achievements As a major research-based university of international standing, the Chinese University is often excited and encouraged by the fruit of the labour of its senior researchers, which during the year under review were rich, abundant and significant as in the years before. Among the many breakthroughs we made in 2013–14, of which some were recognized by prestigious multinational regulating or adjudicating bodies with prizes and awards, and all featured in top academic journals, I would like to highlight just a couple here.
