Yeung, Choh-Ming Li Professor of Information Engineering 這門課屬於研究院程度，可說是我於2008出版的《信息論與網絡編碼》一書的多媒體版本。該書 是信息與編碼學科的兩本最新教科書之一，我想應有不少人有興趣。我嘗試以動畫來解釋技術細 節，深入闡述數學專題。為此，事前花了大量時間準備和設計教材。意想不到的，是竟有一萬六 千多人登記唸這門既艱深又專精的課。 This is a graduate-level course. The course can be regarded as the multimedia version of my 2008 textbook entitled Information Theory and Network Coding . Since this is one of two contemporary textbooks in the field, quite a number of people around the world would be interested in the course. Although there are quite a number of online courses in higher education, few have in- depth discussions. In this course, fine technical details are presented in the form of animations. I hope I can demonstrate that it is possible to teach mathematical subjects in depth through an online course. The preparation of the course materials, however, takes a tremendous amount of time. The course is subscribed to by close to 17,000 students around the world. 17
